Subject: firefox-gnome-support: hope for helper applications list
Package: firefox-gnome-support
Version: 1.5.dfsg+1.5.0.1-2
Severity: wishlist

Hi, Eric Dorland.

This is a wish for a new feature.

When a user opens a file on the web, the default behavior of firefox
now is to provide a default selection for the file based on mime info
and mailcap config in system. If the user don't like the default
selection, he has to select another helper application, and firefox
would remember this new configuration.

But, in a modern desktop environment, such as Gnome, more than one
mime handlers will usually be given for a certain mime type. For
example, mp3 files can be opened by totem, rhythmbox and so on. If
firefox can give a helper applications list, rather than just one
selection, it will be very desirable. In fact, this feature has been
in Galeon for a long time. Since it is a desktop-integration feature,
I wonder if the firefox-gnome-support can provide such a convenient
feature :-)

Thank you very much.
