Source: gnucash
Version: 1:2.7.3-1
Severity: normal

Dear Dmitry,

Thank you for packaging Gnucash 2.7.3 for Debian, which finally switches
from using Gtk 2 to using Gtk 3. As the maintainer of libgwenhywfar in
Debian I am interested in this transition because I would like to get
rid of its Gtk 2 part in the Debian archive as soon as no package is
build-depending on it anymore. Gnucash is the only package that needed
to build-depend on libgwengui-gtk2-dev, which represents the Gtk 2 parts
of libgwenhywfar.

Unfortunately the source package gnucash 1:2.7.3-1 still build-depends
on libgwengui-gtk2-dev, even though it doesn't use it (i.e. the
resulting binary package doesn't depend on the corresponding binary
package libgwengui-gtk2-0). For this reason the Gnucash build falls back
to use the embedded copy of the libgwengui-gtk3 source (see directory
borrowed/gwengui-gtk3/ in the Gnucash source tree). This is not optimal
because almost the same source is built and available packaged in the
Debian archive as binary package libgwengui-gtk3-0.

For this reason I would appreciate if you could change the build
dependencies of Gnucash so that it no longer build-depends on
libgwengui-gtk2-dev and instead build-depends on libgwengui-gtk3-dev.
This should be sufficient to make the Gnucash build use the
separately packaged libgwengui-gtk3 library.

Cheers,
Micha
