Package: grub Version: 0.95+cvs20040624-14 Severity: normal I put a kernel called vmlinuz-good in /boot, and update-grub did this:
Searching for GRUB installation directory ... found: /boot/grub . Testing for an existing GRUB menu.list file... found: /boot/grub/menu.lst . Searching for splash image... none found, skipping... Found kernel: /boot/vmlinuz Found kernel: /boot/vmlinuz-good Segmentation fault User hook script /sbin/update-grub failed at /var/lib/dpkg/info/kernel-image-2.4.27-2-686-smp.postinst line 1008. There was a long pause before the segfault, and normally it lists other, debian kernels too.. I renamed the kernel image to vmlinuz.good, and this somehow avoided the problem. -- System Information: Debian Release: 3.1 APT prefers unstable APT policy: (500, 'unstable') Architecture: i386 (i686) Kernel: Linux 2.4.27 Locale: LANG=en_US.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=en_US.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) Versions of packages grub depends on: ii libc6 2.3.2.ds1-20 GNU C Library: Shared libraries an ii libncurses5 5.4-4 Shared libraries for terminal hand -- no debconf information -- see shy jo
