It has no reverse depends in Debian and Ubuntu. It hasn't been maintained upstream in more than a decade. It apparently never became very useful or feature complete. dia-newcanvas also build-depends on the unmaintained pygtk. dia-newcanvas was orphaned by the MIA Team in March.
