Hmm. Something's definitely wrong on the machine. I tried running dpkg-reconfigure passwd to check the settings and saw this: no matching group file entry in /etc/gshadow add group `man' in /etc/gshadow? no matching group file entry in /etc/gshadow add group `plugdev' in /etc/gshadow? grpck: no changes Please correct the error and rerun `/sbin/shadowconfig on' I recently upgraded the machine to unstable. Perhaps something happened during that process. -- Rob Browning rlb @defaultvalue.org and @debian.org; previously @cs.utexas.edu GPG starting 2002-11-03 = 14DD 432F AE39 534D B592 F9A0 25C8 D377 8C7E 73A4 -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe".
