Hello, the "infinite recursion" part of this bug is already fixed upstream since svn r1834 [1] in the trunk of the PoDoFo repository, committed on 2017-03-24 as "Fix stack overflow crash when XRef record references itself".
The "stack consumption" part, which can also lead to a stack overflow when the relevant parts of the input file are large enough or the stack size is small enough, has not been fixed yet AFAIK, though I hope such a fix will be contributed on the podofo-users mailing list shortly, so please stay tuned there.
