When dealing with 3rd-party products any change in upstream sane or debian might cause breaks, though. And not every firm will repackage an binary-only driver for a device they no more sell => If it looks like such a thing might happen with a 300€ hardware I recently bought I *will* panick. And will be prepared re-consider whom to buy devices from, that is. Kind regards, Gunter.
