Package: snmpd Version: 5.7.3+dfsg-1.7 Severity: minor Dear Maintainer,
I have been trying to use 'monit' to monitor the local daemons on this system, and I have had issues since upgrading from Jessie to Stretch. Apparently, the new systemd service file does not specify creating a pid file, while /etc/default/snmpd lists the command line option. I have added the option to the systemd service file, and I am able to report success or failure to monit. /etc/default/snmpd: SNMPDOPTS='-Lsd -Lf /dev/null -u Debian-snmp -g Debian-snmp -I -smux,mteTrigger,mteTriggerConf -p /run/snmpd.pid' /lib/systemd/system/snmpd.service (Original): ExecStart=/usr/sbin/snmpd -Lsd -Lf /dev/null -u Debian-snmp -g Debian-snmp -I -smux,mteTrigger,mteTriggerConf -f /lib/systemd/system/snmpd.service (Corrected): ExecStart=/usr/sbin/snmpd -Lsd -Lf /dev/null -u Debian-snmp -g Debian-snmp -I -smux,mteTrigger,mteTriggerConf -f -p /run/snmpd.pid -- System Information: Debian Release: 9.2 APT prefers stable-updates APT policy: (500, 'stable-updates'), (500, 'oldstable-updates'), (500, 'stable'), (500, 'oldstable') Architecture: amd64 (x86_64) Kernel: Linux 4.9.0-4-amd64 (SMP w/1 CPU core) Locale: LANG=en_US.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=en_US.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8), LANGUAGE=en_US.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/dash Init: systemd (via /run/systemd/system) Versions of packages snmpd depends on: ii adduser 3.115 ii debconf [debconf-2.0] 1.5.61 ii init-system-helpers 1.48 ii libc6 2.24-11+deb9u1 ii libsnmp-base 5.7.3+dfsg-1.7 ii libsnmp30 5.7.3+dfsg-1.7 ii lsb-base 9.20161125 snmpd recommends no packages.
