Package: kexec-tools Version: 2.0.14-1 Severity: Important There is a known issue (fixed in unstable as 876318) with kdump-config being unable to parse the 4.12 kernel, producing messages like these:
Unknown type (Reserved) while parsing /sys/firmware/memmap/5/type. Please report this as bug. Using RANGE_RESERVED now. Unknown type (Reserved) while parsing /sys/firmware/memmap/1/type. Please report this as bug. Using RANGE_RESERVED now. Unknown type (Reserved) while parsing /sys/firmware/memmap/6/type. Please report this as bug. Using RANGE_RESERVED now. Unknown type (Reserved) while parsing /sys/firmware/memmap/4/type. Please report this as bug. Using RANGE_RESERVED now. Unknown type (Reserved) while parsing /sys/firmware/memmap/2/type. Please report this as bug. Using RANGE_RESERVED now. ELF core (kcore) parse failed Cannot load /var/lib/kdump/vmlinuz failed to load kdump kernel ... failed! failed to load kdump kernel I've encountered the same problem running 4.12.0-0.bpo.2 on stable. Although there is a resolved bug for this issue in unstable, I've checked kexec-tools:src bugs, and there's nothing I can find to fix this in stable. I need core dumps and debug capabilities, as, apart from this issue, my system has been hanging and unresponsive on console since latest update.
