I'd like to +1 this feature request. I have spent ages tearing my hair out, trying to work out why I kept hitting a domain limit, even though I hadn't run certbot.
The problem (amongst others) is that (according to the Letsencrypt documentation) new certificates must be requested before renewals to prevent the limit for a domain being reached, but I never get the chance as the cron job runs so frequently. The only way I can see to disable it is to edit it, but that will break the package installation.
