Hi, (Not the dpkg maintainer, but ...) Have you considered using the debhelper/10.2.5~bpo8+1 release from jessie-backports? Assuming you just need debhelper (>= 10) that should be sufficient. :) FYI/FTR: The backported version of debhelper works without dpkg 1.18 by disabling some features[1].
