The solution that Helmut proposed in #820829 about making libpcap-dev Arch:any is the more straightforward, without waiting for reverse-depends to move to the other package. There are still more rdeps of libpcap-dev than libpcal0.8-dev: $ build-rdeps --old libpcap-dev | grep ^Found Found a total of 96 reverse build-depend(s) for libpcap-dev. $ build-rdeps --old libpcap0.8-dev | grep ^Found Found a total of 84 reverse build-depend(s) for libpcap0.8-dev.
