Hello, I hit this issue as well after upgrading to Stretch, and I don't consider mentioning such a major incompatibility in the bug only to be appropriate. I have actually read the relevant parts of the upgrading guide,

At a minimum, please make sure that this deprecation information is added to the documentation above, to prevent others from hitting the same issue unexpectedly.
