Dear maintainer,
I also can confirm this bug on fresh stretch installation.The scidavis package does not contain the scidavis.desktop file. Hence after installing the package it doesnot show up in the desktop menu (cinnamon, mate, gnome , xfce and also lxde). But the stable version of scidavis in debian jessie did not have this bug.
So, i request you to create a patch, and fix this simple bug.
