Package: amarok-xine Version: 1.3.8-1 Severity: normal I don't know how xine/esd is supposed to be used, but amarok certainly doesn't tell me when I try to use it. If I'm using, for example, xine/alsa and try switching to esd, an error message reading "xine was unable to initialize any audio-drivers." appears when I apply. Then a new error message appears reading "Could not launch the mail client: [...] Could not find 'kmail' executable." Then new windows identical to this one start appearing and amarokapp starts forking infinitely. Unless kmail is installed. I'm going to send the mail generated upstream. Attached is the content of that mail.
This reproduces on both of my Etch boxes. However I've found a way to avoid it and actually use the xine/esd engine. I just have to start esd on the command line. I don't use GNOME and have no idea how esd is supposed to be started. -- System Information: Debian Release: testing/unstable APT prefers testing APT policy: (990, 'testing'), (500, 'unstable') Architecture: i386 (i686) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/bash Kernel: Linux 2.6.15-1-686 Locale: LANG=fr_CA.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=fr_CA.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) Versions of packages amarok-xine depends on: hi amarok 1.3.8-1 versatile and easy to use audio pl ii kdelibs4c2a 4:3.5.1-2 core libraries for all KDE applica ii libc6 2.3.5-13 GNU C Library: Shared libraries an ii libgcc1 1:4.0.2-8 GCC support library ii libstdc++6 4.0.2-8 The GNU Standard C++ Library v3 ii libxine1 1.0.1-1.6 the xine video/media player librar ii zlib1g 1:1.2.3-9 compression library - runtime amarok-xine recommends no packages. -- no debconf information -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe".
