There's a few things you could try. Instead of just pressing <enter> at the boot prompt, try entering: - install noapic nolocalapic - install acpi=off - install24 - install24 noapic nolocalapic Did you try the Etch Beta1 CD? In that case you could also give a daily built CD [1] a try. Again, try both the default install and the options above. Let us know the results.
