Package: ebtables
Version: 2.0.10.4-3
Severity: normal

Dear Maintainer,

Armhf version ebtables binary cannot communicate with arm64 kernel. It can be
reproduced on qemu. The detailed versions of components are listed below:

ebtables: 2.0.10.4-3(armhf)
kernel: Linux 4.9.0-3-arm64 #1 SMP Debian 4.9.30-2 (2017-06-12)

The error occurs when inserting rules into kernel or listing exist rules when
the ruleset is not empty. For example,

ebtables -A FORWARD -i eth0 -j DROP
[ 591.994988] kernel msg: ebtables bug: please report to author: Standard
target size too big
Unable to update the kernel. Two possible causes:
1. Multiple ebtables programs were executing simultaneously. The ebtables
userspace tool doesn't by default support multiple ebtables programs running
concurrently. The ebtables option —concurrent or a tool like flock can be
used to support concurrent scripts that update the ebtables kernel tables.
2. The kernel doesn't support a certain ebtables extension, consider
recompiling your kernel or insmod the extension.

Kind regards,

Miao Wang
