I apologize for the silence, I didn't realize I hadn't updated this bug.
Upstream seems to believe that this is Not A Bug since it works if you
explicitly specify the interface. However, I will leave the bug open since
I think the current behaviour is easily misleading. I may close it with a
mention in the man page in a future upload, and will check with upstream
again to see what I can do. Patches to fix the problem are welcome as
always, of course.
