Hum... I never had this issue but i'll definitely try to reproduce/fix it.

Actually, the password creation here is inspired from wordpress (see
/usr/share/doc/wordpress/examples/setup-mysql ). I do agree that the
wordpress script is only an example and that the setup-config script i
provide is always used, perhaps without enough verification.

I'll see what I can do. I'm not even sure I'll let my setup-config script in
the package next version. I wanted to have a very automated and convenient
setup script but it is rather complicated to handle every situation. On top
of that, other packages do not usually provide auto-configuration... Maybe
they are right...

I'll keep you updated, but do not hesitate to mail me if you have more ideas
on how this should be handled.
