that's reassuring... i was worrying that the problem might
have been with the automagic db support... which is a scary
cloud of code even to me... and i'm the one who wrote it!

this is wierd.  just to make sure i haven't gone insane i diffed
the two tarballs and they're the same.  so...  i'm suspecting that one
of the debian-specific patches or "official upstream patches" shipped
in the debian version may be the cause.  otherwise, there's something
in the package build rules.

could you try using the "upstream" tarball, applying all the patches
listed at http://cacti.net/download_patches.php, and seeing if the
problem reappears?
