Package: base-passwd Version: 3.5.11 Severity: wishlist Hi,
As part of the package utopia effort we think it would be nice of the following two groups were added to Debian by default. Both are intended to give the desktop (but mainly laptop) user more power over their system without requiring them to get root and do some tweaking. * netdev: Members of this group can request changes in the network state. For example to connect to a wireless network. This is mainly usefull for users that often change (wireless) networks. We want to use this for network-manager (currently in NEW) and dhcdbd * powerdev: Member of this group can request changes in the ``power state'' of the system. That is things like suspending the system, hibernating it, setting it in low-power mode. Like netdev, this is mainly usefull for laptop users who want an easy way to change the ``power state'' of their system. Programs that we want to use it for are hal and powersaved. Other potential candidates to use this group are pbbuttonsd, pmud and maybe even cpufreqd.
