I am aware of this, but libconfig 1.6 is not suitable for upload to Debian right now. At the most basic level, the SONAME has not been bumped despite ABI breakage [1]. This is outstanding for 18 months at this stage, and the original upstream maintainer even advises people to revert to 1.5 for now [2]. Until these issues are fixed, I do not plan on uploading libconfig 1.6 to Debian.
