Package: mysql-server-5.0
Version: 5.0_5.0.18-7
Severity: Critical

I am trying to upgrade from mysql-server4.1 to mysql-server5.0 however every time I tried it I have come up to a brick wall, now I find out that the pre-install is checking for previous versions, it refused to install with mysql-server-4.1 so I uninstalled it and now I find it is complaining that no other version of the software is installed.

Can someone please explain why this package is so hard to install and what us end users are supposed to do, I have marked this as critical because the only option I have is to re-install version 4.1 which also does not fix the mess this leaves apt-get in.
