during major upgrades involving lots, possibly hundreds, of packages, the installation process may exit because of errors or dependency problems. One could scroll up to find out what went wrong, but that may become quite tedious if you have to scroll up almost to the top. It would be much easier to grep for warnings and error messages if one could save the contents of the terminal output to a file. Could you, please, add an option "Save output to file" (or similar) to the terminal window? One possible approach: Pipe the output through tee into a file in /tmp (something like "TMP=`mktemp`; dpkg | tee $TMP"). If the user selects "Save output to file", the temporary file would be moved to a file specified by the user; otherwise, the temporary file would be deleted once the terminal window is closed.
