Hmm... e.g. remember that on Debian system, the systray (at least) in
Gnome is placed by default in upper bar. Anyway, this should be no more
a problem for our users.

I don't really think that this is a good idea.
You will end having some seconds of recording with not useful frames
(your terminal command). And IMHO it's more useable and easy to click
on a button in your taskbar than to open a terminal, start istanbul and
in the end stop it again from the terminal.
