Does your sources.list file on the machine on which you ran "apt-get update" use your approx server in its "deb ..." lines? That's what will cause /var/cache/approx to contain the Packages and other files. Sorry if that's not clear in the documentation. It's fine to do an initial "apt-get update" or upgrade against the approx server even when its cache is empty. The apt-import command is optional, in case you already have a lot of .deb files locally. If it *does* already point to your approx server, then please enable debugging (set "$debug true" in /etc/approx/approx.conf), and send the log output from the "apt-get update" run. -- Eric Cooper e c c @ c m u . e d u
