gpg --no-default-keyring --export --keyring /etc/apt/trusted.gpg > /etc/apt/trusted.gpg.new fixed the problem. I now need to decide whether I should nuke and pave. The only question that remains is: how did this happen? There must be an issue lurking there somewhere. Thanks for the assistance. Pete
