For the contents, yes. But there are (small) differences in the
packaging (cleanup rules file and dependencies, rewrite of the
copyright file, ...)

I just pushed my work at ssh://git.debian.org/git/collab-maint/freeplayer.git
I would be very pleased if you can handle yourself the fix
in jessie with the release team. And if you want to takeover
the package, feel free to do it (as I said, I do not use it
myself and upstream seems dead)
