I do not know what the source of this bug is, but I have heard reports that it may be related to the change to the Euro, and that the old currencies are no longer even considered legitimate currencies by gnucash. This is not certain, it's just a combination of guesses. One thing that might work is to edit the gnucash file and remove the scheduled transactions from it, and then add them back by hand. I'm afraid that I don't have the time to debug the problem myself, though I would be happy to incorporate patches if someone else has found the problem. Upstream is entirely focused on the upcoming gnome-2 version of gnucash (understandably), and there is no reason to think this sort of bug would carry over because that part of gnucash is quite new in the gnome-2 version.
