jarsigner also the use of "eTokens" to store the signing keys, and apksigner is supposed to function as a drop-in replacement for jarsigner. apksigner currently totally fails with an eToken/HSM. Upstream fixed this already, here is the upstream bug report: https://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=263437
