Yes, I can confirm systemd.log_level=debug is in /etc/default/grub - I had been troubleshooting another issue at the same time I upgraded the host to stretch. It never occurred to me that it was related to these messages, in fact, the other issue had been fixed on a Friday and I didn't even look at these emails until the following week. Thanks for pointing this out. Is there some way the log output in cron emails could include a line indicating that systemd debug logging is enabled so it is obvious how to stop it again?
