Actually, I completely misunderstood what you meant, I thought you were saying that the text "moves up" like in that bug you reference, instead you are talking only about the selection going away and the cursor going to the front of that selection... We (also scribus upstream) believe that's fixed in the current development version, should be fixed in 1.4.7 and 1.5.1 (so scribus-ng is fixed in regards to this bug).
