Ack, I've also seen some bug report that it fails with newer
Microsoft browsers.

Right, it seems that there are hardly any users, and upstream seems
inactive as well. So while it seems to be easy to fix this bug,
altogether this looks like a candidate for removal.

Let's wait a few days to see if anyone raises objections.
