Sorry, I forgot to add an extra comment about this particular patch. I'm simply trying to reduce the diff between Ubuntu and Debian and these patches have been carried on for a long while and these extra pieces cause constant merge failures on the Ubuntu side. In the case of x32 I'm really not sure if the patches are still required, they have been added long ago. I'm actually interested in your point of view as a maintainer - and this is the part I forgot to ask you about: do you believe the x32 patches add any value to the package nowadays? They seem to be no longer required.
