Hi folks, While wondering why my tpconfig package does not work for 2.6 kernel, I realized that there were much kernel changes between 2.4 and 2.6.
sample_rate is one thing I remember affected. (Vaguely) So, I am sure gpm is also affected by this change in kernel behavior. As I see kernel configuration "HELP", new gpm is available to address needs for 2.6. <http://www.geocities.com/dt_or/gpm/gpm.html> Although 'autops2' gpm was, I think, debian specific hack, merging upstream changes should help situation. Debian GPM: 1.19 Upstream GPM: 1.20 Guillem Jover, are you still there to maintain this package? These upstream seems to be from 2003. Maybe you want to check other distro too.
