Fwiw, I don't see anything in /etc/default/exim4 which suggests that the pidfile can be overridden there. So is this actually used in practice? Wouldn't it be better to improve the situation for the vast majority of users then optimizing for the corner case -- Why is it that all of the instruments seeking intelligent life in the universe are pointed away from Earth?
