As well as blocking extensions, the package now also silently block updates, see bug 841401 https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=841401
I have given up on chromium, while I appreciate the work of the maintainers, the silently and arbitrary breaking of functionality on purpose make this package unusable.
