OK; I can get this uploaded Tomorrow (which is the effective freeze
deadline for priority medium uploads); or I could finish porting the
rott patch logic over instead (I began here[1] but abandoned efforts
on Friday when I realised this was an evolutionary dead-end upstream
at least). What do you think? I'm leaning towards finishing the rott
logic port and uploading that; there's a slightly higher chance of
introducing problems (since it's an actual source code patch and not
just a package metadata change) but if it turns out that there is a
problem we could request a freeze exception to fix it, and I think
it's unlikely that there will be a problem. We wouldn't have to
carry the patch beyond the current upstream release since the next
one will be a v3 one.
