Package: openocd Version: 0.9.0-1 Summary: What are the opinions about a 'jtag-adapter-udev' package?
Hello OpenOCD maintainer, Here the maintainer of urjtag. Our users benefit from udev rule files that describes/handles their JTAG probes. When both openocd and urjtag install a udev rule covering the same device, will result in nasty situations on conflicting rules. This bugreport is to prevent such configuration conflicts. What I want is a separate package that installs udev rules for JTAG adapters (and such[1]). What we need is agreement on the idea of it. Also we need to pick / decide a name for the package. Doing `aptitude search udev` yields several package names ending in '-dev'. I want to go with that convention. Another thing is where/what "upstream" should be. Currently has "urjtag upstream" no udev rule file. But "openocd upstream" does have such file. That gives openocd a headstart for being "upstream" for a -udev package. The above all together did bring me to make patches on OpenOCD that build a jtag-adapter-udev package. I'll send them to this bugreport. Looking forward to your feedback Kind regards Geert Stappers DD Maintainer of urjtag Note [1] With 'and such' is meant "I haven't looked in what the sigrok package needs/does/provides". -- Groeten Geert Stappers -- Leven en laten leven
