Then please follow the "debian-sid branch" in aptitude's git repository. That's where package development happens. This is also declared in the Vcs-Git header of the aptitude source package: Vcs-Git: https://anonscm.debian.org/git/aptitude/aptitude.git -b debian-sid The master branch is meant for upstream development.
