* What led up to the situation? Starting Audacity on a laptop with a single headphone jack that serves as both headphone and mic jack (3-pin jack). * What was the outcome of this action? For some reason, the headphone jack stops working afterwards. There is no sound output through the headphone jack. This bug is persistent through exiting audacity, restarting audacity, and restarting the whole computer. * What outcome did you expect instead? Audacity causes no issues with the headphone jack. Or if necessary, audacity reverts the jack's settings the prior state so that exiting audacity preserves the sound output function of the headphone jack. * I have found a work-around and additional references: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/alsa-driver/+bug/1257956 http://askubuntu.com/a/391371/198924 * Additional info I think this bug is happening because Audacity re-tasks the headphone jack to a mic jack? The default setting in audacity for Edit - Preferences, "Recording Device" is set to "default: Headphone Mic:0". Changing this to "default: Internal Mic:0" fixed the problem.
