Source: snowball Version: 0+svn585-1 Severity: wishlist Tags: patch Dear Maintainer,
It would be nice if snowball was upgraded to the current version from the new upstream Git [0]. Compared the the current Svn support, that snapshot contains support for new languages (Arabic, Tamil), new bindings (Python, JSX) and many bug fixes. I need this for Sphinx which now uses snowball for search. I have started some initial work at [1], but it was never reviewed. Below I am copying a part of my private mail: > I have pushed a new update to [1], rebasing against the latest upstream > snapshot. Note that I have not yet merged ‘upstream’ into ‘debian’, because > I want your opinion on whether I generate the tarball correctly. > > The tarball is currently huge (24 MB .tar.xz) because of Arabic testdata > (for the same reason testing takes a long time). Maybe we can strip it > from our tarball? > > If you agree to merge this, my next step will be adding the packaging for > Python bindings.
