I've been thinking a bit about it without reaching any definite idea

That's great, thanks!

I've only stumbled on one UI issue: when something is half-starred and
you're browsing it from the favourites view there is no way to turn it
into a full star, because clicking on the star goes through the
unstarred phase and removes it from the view.

On the PC using right click to go through the states in
the opposite direction looks to me like a natural interface to work
around the problem (and it would work on the Pandora / Pyra, even if
it's a bit less natural); I'm not sure how well it would work on other
mobile devices (maybe long tap? I don't know how easy/hard it would be
to do it with QT).

Anyway, you've just made my fosdem experience MUCH smoother, THANKS!
