The test suite does not appear to use any ‘nose’ features that are not already in the standard library ‘unittest’ module as of Python 2.7. The dependency on ‘nose’ is evidently only to do automatic test suite discovery. The dependency on ‘nose’ can be removed, by migrating to use the standard ‘unittest’ test suite discovery.
