What is wrong with

$ cd /etc/service/foo
$ echo 'OPTIONS=-bar > conf
$ cat run
#!/bin/sh
. conf
[...]

I dislike idea to complicate runit itself, but it is not in my
competence. Such change is better to be proposed to upstream.
