Package: getdns-utils Version: 1.1.0~a2-1 Severity: minor Dear Maintainer,
I know that getdns_query is a demonstrator of getdns, and is not intended to be a replacement for DNS clients like dig. Nevertheless, I think that the error messages are really too poor to be usable: Non-existing server, TLS: % getdns_query @192.0.2.1 -s -l L www.bortzmeyer.org An error occurred: 1 'Generic error' All done. Non-existing server, plain: % getdns_query @192.0.2.1 -s www.bortzmeyer.org SYNC response: { "answer_type": GETDNS_NAMETYPE_DNS, "canonical_name": <bindata for www.bortzmeyer.org.>, "replies_full": [], "replies_tree": [], "status": GETDNS_RESPSTATUS_ALL_TIMEOUT } Response code was: GOOD. Status was: All queries for the name timed out All done. -- System Information: Debian Release: stretch/sid APT prefers testing APT policy: (500, 'testing') Architecture: amd64 (x86_64) Kernel: Linux 4.8.3-x86_64-linode76 (SMP w/2 CPU cores) Locale: LANG=C, LC_CTYPE=fr_FR.utf8 (charmap=UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/dash Init: systemd (via /run/systemd/system) Versions of packages getdns-utils depends on: ii libc6 2.24-8 ii libgetdns1 1.1.0~a2-1 ii libidn11 1.33-1 ii libssl1.1 1.1.0c-2 ii libunbound2 1.5.10-3 getdns-utils recommends no packages. getdns-utils suggests no packages. -- no debconf information
