But it's nevertheless correct: debdelta is unusable for quite a while,

when using debdelta-upgrade.

That's appreciated, but even if someone would have sponsored that
before 20th of Dec. (or 24th of Dec. to get back into testing before
the soft-freeze of 5th of January), it likely wouldn't become usable
again, because the server side also needs to run the new version (at
least) to produce proper debdeltas there.

So as far as I can see, we need Andrea to become active in this issue
anyways. Only fixing the client side won't help.

I've just looked at the debdiff. Converting a package from
non-debhelper to debhelper is IMHO a little bit far off for a
non-maintainer upload. Chances are high that the package maintainer
did not use debhelper on purpose and IMHO such a decision has to be
honoured by an NMU.

Currently I'd not sponsor that NMU unless I see an explicit OK from
Andrea.

Great, so Andrea can cherry-pick single fixes if he doesn't agree with
all of them.
