Hi, I have this same problem.
I rolled back from version 1.6-15+b1 to version 1.6-15 (amd64) from
snapshot.debian.org and now I can send emails normally again.
I've got this in my profile:
send: -mts smtp -server *** -port 587 -user *** -tls -sasl
