I'm afraid I cannot reproduce this bug with the current version of
mplayer. Can you still reproduce it? If so, can you run strace on mplayer
so we can see exactly what the error is (please attach the entire log)?

Yeah, my brief Internet search of this error says that an unreadable
shared library or a noexec filesystem is the most likely cause of this
error. I'm not sure what else can cause it.
