As I see this bug report, this bug was hit under unstable system with mutter=3.22.2-1. mutter=3.22.2-1 migration to testing has happened yesterday. So this seems to be the same problem I faced under testing as reported to mutter: https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=846898 According to Ivan, It does not happen in mutter=3.22.1-2. I will keep this bug report here for others wondering how to start gnome from gdm3 with the updated title, but this problem looks like the issue with mutter=3.22.2-1. Osamu
